Midland Park Baptist Church History

Midland Park Baptist Church traces its humble beginnings to a small bible study group that met in the early summer of 1960. The group, led by Ed Fry, George Bowman and others associated with Jarvis Street Baptist Church of Toronto, initially met in the Fry residence in Lawrence and Midland. A student from Toronto Baptist Seminary, Don Wheaton was called to pastor the newly formed Midland Park Baptist Church. A Daily Vacation Bible School ministry was begun with the church finding a temporary meeting place in Edgewood Public School, along Birkdale Road. This eventually led to a regular children Sunday school ministry alongside its Adult Sunday School and Morning Services.

The following year, having received a donation from a Mr. Herbert Wallace, the church was able to acquire the lot on the corner of Brockley Drive and Treewood Street which would eventually become the site of the present building. It was at this time that Pastor Burt Acheson of Milliken Baptist Church joined the church and at whose facilitation the donation of Mr. Wallace was secured.

Towards the end of the fall of 1964, a portable building was purchased from Lawrence Avenue Baptist Church and Midland Park Baptist Church (now named Wallace Memorial Baptist Church) held its inaugural worship service in the newly acquired portable building on December 6, 1964. Some 30 years later, in September of 1994, Wallace Memorial Baptist Church reverted to its original name of Midland Park Baptist Church.

In the early months of 1971, having acquired sufficient funds, mostly coming from the proceeds of the sale of a portion of the church lot, Wallace Memorial Baptist Church started planning for a new building. The Lord blessed the desire of the congregation with the project pushing through in the summer of the same year. The formal opening of the new building, however, was done the following spring of 1972.Homeopathic tablets or other products usually cost around INR http://pharma-bi.com/2010/04/don%E2%80%99t-be-fooled-by-poor-analytics/ viagra on line 100 to INR500 if you need to buy drugs online, choose only authorized web chemists that have physical presence. After the involvement of Don Wheaton in the pastorate, the Lord continued to sustain the work with the supply of a number of men taking on the task of shepherding the flock. Among them were Rev. Robert Guthrie who was called in 1966, Rev. Jack Hannah in 1968, after which more a year later, Rev. Burt Acheson transferred from Milliken Baptist Church to start his pastorate. Tom Orrell came in 1984, Terry Morgan in 1989, Rev. Graham Butcher in 1990 and Steve Eusebio in 2010.

From its beginnings to this day, Midland Park Baptist Church continues to stand on the absolute and supreme authority of the Bible and to undertake its mandate of proclaiming the good news of salvation in the Jesus Christ alone.
